Types Of AIF
Venture Capital Fund

AIF Categories
AIFs in category I invest in early-stage businesses, SMEs, social initiatives, infrastructure, and other industries. SME Funds, Social Venture fund, Venture capital funds, infrastructure fund & other alternative investment funds that may be designated by the government or regulators are examples of AIFs that invest in start-up or early-stage businesses, social ventures, SMEs, infrastructure, or other sectors or areas.with large cap stocks is often lower. But, it is also challenging to achieve extremely high returns by investing only in large cap equities.
The funds that do not come under Categories I or III and do not engage in leverage or borrowing other than to cover ongoing operating needs are referred to as Category II AIFs by SEBI. Funds that are invested in both debt and equity instruments fall under this category. Included are any monies that don't already fall within Categories 1 and 3, respectively. The government does not grant any discounts for investments made for Category 2 AIFs.
By putting money into listed and unlisted derivatives, Category III AIFs use a variety of trading tactics and leverage. They engage in arbitrage, futures, derivatives, and margin trading. Closed-ended and open-ended funds are both permitted in category III funds. They are not as rigorously regulated as conventional investments. As a result, they are not required frequently to publish their information. Also, there are no incentives or discounts offered by the Indian government for investing in these funds.
